Teeth Whitening Tips
The following article by J. Leger brings out some good information:
In the past the only way of getting your teeth whitened was spending a small fortune at your dentist office. However, today there are plenty of ways that you can actually get a smile you can be proud of for a fraction of a cost. But remember when it comes to teeth whitening don’t expect to see results immediately. Even using some of the teeth whitening tips we offer below it will take a while before you start to see any difference.
Tip 1 – It is important that you drink plenty of water if you want your teeth to look whiter but avoid the kind that has fluoride added to it. This is because there have been reports to suggest that the fluoride can actually cause your teeth to become discolored or stained. By drinking lots of water it helps to rinse your mouth out after each meal, or even a snack, to avoid any residue from remaining stuck to your teeth. Of course brushing and flossing are better when you have the opportunity.
Tip 2 – For anyone who smokes actually cutting down or quitting can help them to then have whiter teeth. The nicotine in the cigarettes is not only addictive but some of it will adhere to the enamel of the teeth and give smokers teeth that yellow look. Dark colas and red wine are tough on teeth too.
Tip 3 – Although some people say it is important to rinse your mouth out after cleaning your teeth with a mouthwash, but if you want that whiter smile avoid using these products. As well as containing alcohol, mouthwash actually contain other chemicals that can result in teeth becoming stained or discolored.
Tip 4 – There are certain fruits that you can use which can help to make your teeth look whiter. Strawberries that have been mashed into a paste and then rubbed on the teeth and left for five minutes works well. But avoid more acidic fruits such as lemons.
Tip 5 – Finally, the easy teeth whitening procedure – using teeth whitening swabs. These kits just require the swab (that is already damp) to be dipped into a small jar of magnesium peroxide powder. Then you apply the mixture to the surface of every tooth. When the magnesium peroxide and the solution on the swab come into contact oxygen is discharged and this lifts the stains off of your teeth. The powder also contains aluminum tri-hydroxide and this helps to polish your teeth.
